Morning all
No snow here unfortunately just torrential rain and very cold I have put the heating on for an extra blast this morning. I have three guests coming today and we are going to a local community cafe where there is an art group for one of my people and the other two of us will sit and have a coffee and play games they go a really good lunch as well which is reasonably priced so we will get food while there it’s not a day for being outside too much.
Dinner tonight will be carbonara with the left over gammon and I think I will have a couple of slices to freeze for sandwiches as well. I have to have a quick tidy round and run the hoover over.
Remmie sending hugs to your dgd I hope the measures the school have put in place help her xxx
TA ouch your poor mouth hope it heals soon xx
I wrapped a few more presents yesterday I have now wrapped everything that I’ve got, I have a few more to get for dd and I need to get my in-laws but I am waiting to see if MIL comes home before I get theirs ( the SW team are trying to get her home) if she doesn’t come home then I will get them a separate present each and if she does I will get the normal hamper for them.
Have good days all and take care xx

Good morning all
Thank you for the start remmie, pleased things are being sorted for your DGD.
Thank you for mentioning wills. I need to get mine sorted. I suppose I've been hoping my Ds would talk to me but I haven't heard anything, literally not a Christmas or birthday card, no contact whatsoever. I've tried everything I can.
I don't feel I want to leave him anything, but does that make me as bad as him, I don't know ?
Take care
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.14 -
Morning all, we've had a good 3" sprinkling of snow but it's very soft so unless it freezes it should go pretty quick. DH had to clear it all off the work van as it's going to the garage again this morning and they won't like it dripping all over the workshop. Pooch enjoyed her little walk and then went a bit giddy on the front grass, she loves it. DGS training last night was cut a bit short but their coach had probably been in the rain then snow for at least a couple of hours before DGS session, brr. He has a school tournament at a localish park tomorrow afternoon, which I can see being cancelled. He is having a sleepover with 4 friends at DS for his birthday so he wants me to make a 'cake' the same as last year. Not really a cake, basically it's just melted chocolate in a mould & decorated before it sets properly, he's not a lover of real cakeRemmie, glad to hear that the school is taking things seriously now and measures put in place and DGD is feeling happier. We had the logs delivered yesterday so a tonne is now put away by me in the log store at the front :oThought my back would feel it this morning but seems ok. Hopefully the chimney sweep can make it at lunchtime, then it can be lit! I'll have to shift the dogbed etc in readinessFinished watching Ellis last night, we both enjoyed it, & have made a start on Moonflower murders too Gers.Ham shanks for tea, then I need to put my order in for Oc8do, the butcher is also delivering a pack today.Take care all.

Morning everyone
Very cold here when I popped the bin out - I'm pleased I don't have to go to work early, 11am is a much better time to leave the house!
Though I'll be earlier today as biggest cat has an appointment for her boosters - DD will take us up as it's right at the other end of town. Then she'll drop me at mam and dads then pop cat back into my house on her way back home. Dad's kindle wasn't working yesterday so I'll sort that and have a cuppa - it was fine on Sunday when I left, but he'll have pressed something! It's only source of entertainment - listening to audio books, as he can't see to read or watch TV.
I'm so pleased things seem to be sorted Remmie and hope your granddaughter is happy back at school. I know how helpful it is to share 'granddaughter problems' with everyone on here!
Right I'd best get a shift on. Biggest cat is now howling for me to let her outside, she knows something is up!
Hope everyone has a good day x14 -
Morning all, it's cold and wet today but no snow yet. I didn't get on yesterday as Mr Fix It had his covid jab early then had to wait almost an hour in the queue ! We went on to a large GC to have lunch and I had to call the manager as mine was awful. It was soon replaced with something else and the chef brought it with a big apology.
Last night I suddenly couldn't move my arm without pain so this morning I have ben trying to get a GP appointment re the pain in my leg and now arm. I have been triaged so I'm waiting a call back.
Remmie I hope everything is sorted for your DGD. It must have been awful for her and stressful for her Dmum.
TA I'm glad the appointment is over for now. Hopefully you will heal quickly.
Silver Oldie I would feel exactly like you too. Don't feel bad as he hasn't bothered with you.
Stop press;- It's just started snowing !
Take care all, stay safe and warm.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14 -
Thanks for the (very) early start @remmie - so pleased to hear that DGD's school are helping to make things better for her.
We have snow, no idea what time it started last night, but it looks picture postcard perfect. At some point I need to nip out to read the gas meter, other than that I'm not going anywhere today!
Ouch @TA, I hope your mouth isn't too sore.
Yesterday's planned chores got done by lunchtime and then much of the afternoon was spent on the phone to arrange an appointment to register DH's death, Much admin chaos (not on my part) but long story short - success, it's on Thursday at a local community hub, much more convenient than having to go to the main Registry office in town. DS is coming with me as my emotional prop and chauffeur and then it's a quick 5 minute drive to the Funeral Care home to give them the green form they're waiting for. And he's also taking me to Sainsburys so I won't need a grocery delivery this week. He's a good lad.
@silver-oldie - I know how you feel, I'm in a similar position with DD. The only time she gets in touch is when she wants some money that never gets paid back, despite her promises. The Bank of M&D is now closed so I doubt I'll hear anything for a good while, if at all. Her loss.
The latest book I'm reading is called A Shot in the Dark by a new-to-me author, Lynne Truss. It's a crime novel set in Brighton in the 1950s and is based around a new ambitious police officer, Constable Twitten. It's very witty, almost satirical and nostalgic in its descriptions of the time. Apparently there are three more novels featuring PC Twitten so I'll be on the lookout for those.
Not sure about tea tonight but a bowl of chunky soup and sandwiches sound as if they might fit the bill!
Take care all and wrap up warm. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Morning all! Went to urgent care, came back with three lots of tablets, they seem to be helping already which is good. I do have to hpone them though, they dispensed one lot which was supposed to be 21 tablets but gave me 120...I'm just going to check the dose is right! Made the last two Christmas cakes last night, I think they were a bit long in the oven though, they're a bit hard on the top. No fear though, I'll have one of them because I like a crispy top anyway. Snow this morning but not sticking, just dripping and the fire is lit. I just did a dash to the gazebo [ shed stuff still in it] to get some wood for kindling, I can just cut up as and when now. Normally I'd have a bin full of the stuff by now but not very organised this year. Today the worktop people are coming to measure up for hopeful install next week, I wil finally have a kitchen to properly cook in. And the sweep is booked for December 2nd...December! in 12 days! This year has flown!remmie, how absolutely outrageous that a teacher should say and imply to a disabled child they should just put up with being bullied...I hope she's discplined for that. Good ot hear things have changed a bit for her though. Coxy, hope the move went well. TA, oh dear ouch, I remember the soft food and the hurting mouth, it's really not nice. Gers, well done on your general organisation, you do seem very well put together, I did like approaching the day gently too, very poetic
SO, there is no need to wonder about being as bad as someone else. I got fed up with the idea of being nice to people who are horrible to you. It's just another crock to make us feel guilty about nothing. Perosnally, I'd spend the lot on myself because you can't take it with you so you might as well enjoy what it can do for you. nanny, hope your pains are easily remedied, also not fun. camelot, enjoy the warmth, lovely to have something you haven't had before, like constant heat
Izzy, I most definitely put my feet up yesterday...but hello Mrs Pot
Suffolk Sue, that's a result! might as well empty the stuff before it goes in a skip. snoozer, good to know, I'll have to look into it [ bit strained though, we're about to have a new boiler] Better look fast. Take care all, thoughts to the poorlies, everyone else, take a leaf out of peonys book!

Silver oldie I’m just popping back to say I totally agree with Taff over the years I’ve worried myself sick about what I might have done to upset people and I have come to the conclusion I could stand on my hands and clap my feet and they would still find fault I don’t fuss anymore and family are the worst they all know how I feel now after a big carry on a few years ago and I’ve told them all they are getting nothing because I’m spending it I’ve worked for it like it or lump it . Coxy hope your move has gone smoothly12

Thank you everyone. I know I'm not perfect, I'm human. I may have said and done the wrong thing but I've never set out to hurt anyone.
My DS knows what he's doing.
I can treat myself and spend money but I have a house. I'm thinking of leaving it to the hospice, they were so wonderful we when we needed them.If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.10 -
Good idea...or do equity release and go on some cruises...in the warm...:)
