The OP has twice purchased a sofa, found the product unsatisfactory and returned for a full refund.
In both of those cases, DFS incur costs to deliver, collect, restock and, quite possibly, sell the sofa as used, shop-soiled or dispose as scrap.
It simply seems like good business sense on the part of DFS to not keep repeating the same scenario.
It also seems a bit odd that the OP thinks repeating the same scenario is wise.
One of those companies where have a load of stores and a known name is enough to carry a business selling a load of rubbish (IMHO).
We purchased our sofa from DFS and it gave well over 20-years of sterling service.
We purchased the replacement sofa from DFS which was delivered with a blemish in the fabric and the way in which DFS resolved that was exemplary.

Lucky you!
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".4 -

They cannot refuse to sell to you because of protected characteristics, religion, sexual orientation, race etc but outside of that they are free to choose who they want as a customer and not.
I'm in the camp that most of DFS products are low quality and to be honest having had 2 poor quality items delivered confused as to why you were even wanting a 3rd one from them? Hasn't the prior two given you sufficient evidence that your money is better spent elsewhere?3 -
The OP would seem simply to be a glutton for punishment. One poor quality item can be forgiven if the problem is sorted quickly and effectively. After a second similar experience, why would anybody want to go back a third time?

Have you secured a refund or partial refund (reflecting the period of use of a sofa that you did get)?
Are you still left with the unsatisfactory sofa?0 -
The alternative to a replacement is a full refund and collection and they have said we can keep the current furniture (until the end of Jan) until our new furniture (from another vendor) is delivered if that's our choice. So win, win really.0
