Thank you yes I guess it has to be all added up similar to any inheritance I will read your link. The thread also is mentioned the inheritance of shares so it seems there's more than just one share provider. Seems strange to have so many and not have any information sent to them.Grumpy_chap said:
I understand and agree, at first glance it would seem strange.TimeLord1 said:That's strange they don't count the dividend?
However, I understand that shares are treated as any other form of capital, so savings in the bank, or shares, or collection of Renaissance artworks.
The value is assessed as capital and a "deemed income" reduction applied to UC entitlement across the range of £6k to £16k capital
If the income was also assessed in the UC claim, that would be double-counting.
The following confirms that shares are assessed as capital:

It appears the person inherited a portfolio of shares and already owned some, but they're visually impaired so it's gone beyond any basic help.0

Sorry, is this just some Reddit or Mumsnet stuff you saw somewhere and now you are reposting an edited version of the unknown and partial facts here for advice?TimeLord1 said:

It would be far better, if the original poster at whatever other site is not getting the information they need, if that individual posted here for advise directly and can then give the necessary detail to allow proper and correct advice to be given. There is a real danger of people contributing here to thirdhand hearsay which can be passed on like Chinese Whispers.
On that note, I'm out.

No a benefits help section under a specific condition but trying to help them was hard and impossible with so many. But they must've been using some audio typing being visually impaired so it took ages.0
