Yes, I put in my driver number on the application form.

The only caveat is I have moved address and I mentioned that too. So the current info DVLA has, will be of my old address.

But as mentioned, I gave my passport info which has the new address on it, so can't really see an issue.
They'll have separate processes for replacing a damaged licence and for changing address, so if you're trying to do both at the same time then this presumably rings some bells for them as being a heightened risk of fraud, hence more information being requested?
Thanks, and it could explain why they said what they did.

So how would I go about replacing my 'destroyed' paper license which had the old address on it, to the new photo-card one with my current address?
I thought that's what you're already doing and are part way through the process?  It shouldn't normally arise, as you're required to notify them when you move, rather than being prompted to do so only by a later accident to your licence....
Well I mentioned all the necessary info on the online form, and I guess I'll just have to wait and see what other bits they need.

As it's been said, it's probably confused their systems hence the reason for the clarification.

    When did you move?

Having the wrong address on your licence attracts up to a £1000 fine, so arguably you should already have a photocard licence, as an exchange for your paper licence when you moved.
