What information do the DVLA need?

Hi all.
I've filled out an application to replace my driving license. It was a paper one issued back in 1994 and I've never had a photo license before.
Unfortunately it got destroyed in the wash not too long ago.
After completing the online form and consenting the DVLA to use my passport info for the photo, why are they saying they need more information??
What kind would that be?
Thanks.

What is popping up on the website?
Did you get an email asking for information?0 -
Only they can tell you for sure. It's 30 years since they last needed to do anything with your driver record, so it's entirely possible they're just making sure that you are you.Conrad3000 said:

Do you know your driver number?
Have you put it into https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence to make sure everything looks correct on their computer?
Paper licences are getting few and far between now - everybody who still has one...
* is under 70
* hasn't changed address in the last 25 years
* hasn't added licence categories in the last 25 years
(plus, of course, many have changed over voluntarily because it's a very handy piece of ID - especially if you ever rent cars in other countries)
All the driver records were centralised on computer some years ago, so the whole "fear of losing categories if I change" thing that used to go around has long since passed, if it was ever valid.1 -
It just said they're going to send me a form and then for me to send some information to them. It doesn't say what though.Ayr_Rage said:What is popping up on the website?

Yes, I put in my driver number on the application form.
The only caveat is I have moved address and I mentioned that too. So the current info DVLA has, will be of my old address.
But as mentioned, I gave my passport info which has the new address on it, so can't really see an issue.0 -
where does a passport have your address? I've never noticed that.Conrad3000 said:@ Mildly_Miffed

They'll have separate processes for replacing a damaged licence and for changing address, so if you're trying to do both at the same time then this presumably rings some bells for them as being a heightened risk of fraud, hence more information being requested?Conrad3000 said:@ Mildly_Miffed

Yeah, sorry. I thought it did. But in any case, I did submit my passport number and they'll be able to see all the necessary information.Brie said:

Have you checked the licence online?Conrad3000 said:

Remarkable coincidence that your old licence got so badly damaged at the same time as moving.
Passports don't have addresses.1 -
Thanks, and it could explain why they said what they did.eskbanker said:

So how would I go about replacing my 'destroyed' paper license which had the old address on it, to the new photo-card one with my current address?0 -
I thought that's what you're already doing and are part way through the process? It shouldn't normally arise, as you're required to notify them when you move, rather than being prompted to do so only by a later accident to your licence....Conrad3000 said:
