They’re similar apart from the font used (reverse page of the statement shown below but the transactions listed on the front page use the same narrowed font).

The app PDF version seems to squash and sometimes overwrites text in places but then it also spaces things out in other areas - a different font used, maybe Times New Roman? It also has missing apostrophes.

Yes, the app and online banking front pages are the same, except for the font used.
I've never received paper copies of the statements for my FlexDirect account - it's online retrieval only, as far as I'm aware.

When I was with FlexDirect my statements were online only but the very old style when I down graded I got different statements!

Last month's PDF statement for my FlexDirect shown below (various information blanked out). I would imagine the paper statements for other Nationwide current accounts would be similar.
