Shares Bequeathed In A Will

In her Will my mother bequeathed me shares in a FTSE100 company We expect to receive Probate in the next few weeks.
Once that is received:
Is there a time period before I am able to sell the shares?
Am I correct in thinking that I should use her date of death as the base share price for calculating any gain I make as opposed to using the date I actually acquire the shares.
Thank you in advance.

CGT calculations should be based on gain from the value at the time of death.1
