Doesn't really matter what you put. Keep it short and succinct. No need to waffle on about what happened. As long as a DCB Legal issued claim is defended, no matter what you put in it, it will eventually be discontinued.

In most current defences v DCB Legal claims, paragraph 3 (within the 30 paragraph Template Defence) looks similar to the thread below by @shahib_02  ... just change the incident date:

No need for more detail. That's your para 3 done with just one date to change.

You could add a brief 3.1. saying that the Defendant paid for parking and evidence will be provided at witness statement stage.

With a Claim Issue Date of 7th January, and having filed an Acknowledgment of Service('AOS') in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Monday 10th February 2025 to file a Defence.

That's over three weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence and it is good to see that you are not leaving it to the last minute.

To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look at the second post in the NEWBIES thread.

Don't miss the deadline for filing a Defence.

Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an AOS has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.

Thank you all for your inputs. I have now updated para.3 (thank you also to @shahib_02) with the additional (i) information specific to my case:

Preliminary matter: The claim should be struck out

3.       Referring to the POC: paragraph 1 is denied. The Defendant is not indebted to the Claimant. Paragraph 2 is denied. No PCN was "issued on 13/07/2024" (the date of the alleged visit).  Whilst the Defendant is the registered keeper, paragraphs 3 and 4 are denied. The Defendant is not liable and has seen no evidence of a breach of prominent terms.  The quantum is hugely exaggerated (no PCN can be £170 on private land) and there were no damages incurred whatsoever. The Claimant is put to strict proof of all their allegations.

(i). The Defendant paid for parking and evidence will be provided at witness statement stage.

I got an email message last week Wednesday and missed it. Paragraph 3 talks about a possible settlement/mediation
Any ideas how I should respond please? This is the email:

Good morning

Having reviewed the content of your defence, we write to inform you that our client intends to proceed with the claim. In due course, the Court will direct both parties to each file a directions questionnaire. In preparation for that, please find attached a copy of the Claimant's, which we confirm has been filed with the Court. Without Prejudice to the above, in order to assist the Court in achieving its overriding objective, our client may be prepared to settle this case - in the event you wish to discuss settlement, please call us on 0203 434 0433 within 7 days and make immediate reference to this correspondence. If you have provided an email address within your Defence, we intend to use it for service of documents (usually in PDF format) hereon in pursuant to PD 6A (4.1)(2)(c). Please advise whether there are any limitations to this (for example, the format in which documents are to be sent and the maximum size of attachments that may be received). Unless you advise otherwise, we will assume not.
