Community Fibre - Installation Experience

Hey guys,

We were all set to switch from Vodafone to Community Fibre, but the install has left me a bit uncertain.

From what I can tell, being an overhead customer, I would need to have a cable run from the gutter, all the way down the house and then have a box on the outside, and the inside. It also seems the location of all this gubbins can't be decided or dictated until install.

As much as I want a well priced and speedy connection I don't want the front of the house to look pants!

The live chat was a sales person, so not overly detailed responses to reasurre :/

Any thoughts much appreciated!

Have you seen any of their previous instals on houses in the area that you can judge by.

If you do decide to use them make sure you are home on day of instal and run through what the intended method is going to be, if it does not suit do not allow.

Sadly I don't know of any other people who've had it fitted, I might ask on the local Facebook group perhaps.

    Yep, 100% I'd be there!

I've looked further on said group, and I'm far from sure now - for certain I'd need something on the wall outside, and then inside, plus I'd need two power sockets free it seems. Also, customer service seems a bit pants... So, I think I'll swerve it, might see if Vodafone can do us a decent deal if we threaten to bail

The box is tiny, about the size of a single light switch and when they installed mine they put it at the side of the house but I wouldn't have minded it being on the front

Cheers, that's good to know if we do end up going down that route. I think we'll still hassle Voda first to see what we can do there - my wife told them we were leaving earlier and they didn't do much though!

In my experience neither BT nor Vodafone actually care all that much if you leave.

I've been with both and the best I ever got was a sorry you are leaving from VF.

BT just asked for their router back with the threat of how much it would cost me if I didn't send it back.
