Help confirming Saily eSIM is set up

I’m a massive technophobe, so please bear with me. I’ve installed a Saily eSIM for my holiday and went through the activation process and it shows as ‘active’ in the Saily app.  Checked my Vodafone app and I was charged £7.39 for a days data yesterday (landed on holiday yesterday).

I set the eSIM as ‘primary’ as told to when ordering it, but don’t have data allowance now I’m here.  It’s an iPhone 14.  Are there any settings in the phone settings that I need to check/turn on/tuen off please?
Frustrated, and certain it’s a simple fix!  Thanks all

I'm no Apple expert (or fan!) but it sounds like you need to go into your settings and turn off the Vodafone SIM. Maybe do that and then restart the phone?

There's no Primary setting on an iPhone.

It should be Settings/Mobile Service/Mobile Data then select Saily

Also on that screen make sure Allow Data Switching is turned off.

    Thank you both.
PHK - on the mobile data screen there are 3 options to choose from, they are:
    Off
Primary (with my current mobile number next to it)
    Personal

then under the 3 (you must ‘tick’ one of them) there is

Allow Mobile Data Switching (which Saily says to ensure is disabled)

Primary is not an option it is a name given to the eSIM. You can call them whatever you like. To prevent confusion it's normal practice to give them the name of the network (eg Saily)

The tick should be next to whichever one is your Saily SIM.
  • Is the Vodafone SIM a physical SIM? Hoick it out while you sort out your phone settings or Voda will ping you for another £7.39 a day if there's a whiff of roaming.

That should be done with caution as the Vodafone SIM will remain listed in  settings now named "Used as Vodafone" because it will be the default line for contacts. That can be deleted but will ask if you want to reassign the contacts to the other SIM.

Best just to turn the Vodafone SIM off.
