If I take the LED light off, will the power still work?

Hi
Unfortunately, I know nothing about electricity or how circuits work, so please be patient.
I have this light (pictured) with an electric socket that I want to use to charge my toothbrush. Takes 24 hrs to be fully charged.
For the electricity to run, the light comes on and the toothbrush charges, if I turn the light off, the toothbrush also stops charging. The circuit for both is one.
I'm conscious that if I take the LED out (because it is a waste of energy and I hate it at night) to let the toothbrush charge the circuit won't connect, and no power would run through. Is my assumption correct?
I have an electrician visiting to check something else, and I want to see if I can figure it out or need him to do something to still make it work without the light. I haven't tried to take it out in case I break something

I believe it will still work if you have no bulb. My switches still work in normal light sockets if there is no bulb in the socket.
Remove the bulb and give it a test. Maybe plug in a shaver or something to test?1 -
I'd agree about trying taking the bulb out but as you have an electrician coming anyway you can ask the questions then.
I have an electric point inside the bathroom cabinet for charging my toothbrush but DH has to use a normal point (with adapter) in spare bedroom. 🤣1 -
It will probably still charge without the bulb installed. Assuming the bulb is intended to be user replaceable, it should be easy and safe enough to operate it without the bulb installed, however the cover must be in place for it to be safe, especially in a bathroom.
If you already have an electrician coming, they will be in a much better place to look at it and advise you.
If the bulb is an LED, then the energy usage will be tiny. It may not be - there are both filament bulbs and LED replacements for this type of fixture.1 -

Thanks everyone I appreciate all the advice ❤️I just tried to remove the cover + bulb (god bless that YouTuber) and it worked 😃 it was driving me nuts. All sorted now thank you, saved me the extra expense 😆Note:I'm FTB, not an expert, all my comments are from personal experience and not a professional advice.Mortgage debt start date = 25/10/2024 = 175k (5.44% interest rate, 20 year term)

This is weird, Jemma - the charging socket should be live regardless of whether the light is on or off.
The light has a wee pull cord, yes?
If your fitting is really designed to charge only if the light is also on, then it's a bizarre design, and frankly needs taking outside and stamping on.
Are you certain this is the case?
If so, I suggest a different unit.

I'm surprised too that the light doesn't have a pull cord or switch to turn it off. Why, for example, would you want it on during the day? 🤔
You've solved it for now @Jemma01 but I'd definitely ask the electrician when he comes to explain how it's supposed to work and change it if you can't have the toothbrush charger without the light.1
