Ideal Logic Combi boiler 9 years old - 1 year service or full strip down service

Hi, my Ideal Logic E530 combi boiler is due its annual service. It is 9 years old and is serviced yearly. One company has suggested that as it is over 6 years old if it has a full strip down service (costing £150) it will mean the boiler lasts longer. I wondered whether it would be advisable please to have this done, or whether just to go for the usual 1 year service? Thank you in advance

I love my Ideal Logic boiler, it came with an 11 years warranty including parts and labour - does yours have this?
I've only ever had it serviced once a year with just the normal service for £50. The woman doesn't really do much, just checks everything is ok etc. In my eyes, for Ideal to offer an 11 year warranty they must hardly have any problems at all and because of that if I were you I would only get the normal service.1 -

Even inside a combi boiler, there isn't that much that can be stripped and cleaned. Most parts come as pre-assembled units (burner, fan, valves). On some boilers, there are gaskets & seals that the manufacture recommend replacing every 3 or 5 years - This often requires a little more disassembly to get to. To see if any of this applies to your boiler, you'd need to read the service notes issued by Ideal (probably only available to registered gas engineers).

Hi, My Boiler is an ideal logic combi 24, also 9 years old and just had it serviced earlier this month. I just got the normal service, cost me £95. Same guy has come the last 2 or 3 years, advised boiler was running well and figures from the readings were not much different to last year so thats good. He also advised that the boilers only last 15 years, not sure how true that is? Mine only came with a 7 year warranty and when i was going to take out boiler cover, I was advised that when it gets to 7 years or over, they wouldn't replace any parts, i'd just be advised I need a new boiler so for that reason I took the chance and didn't take any boiler cover. Will have to see how the boiler goes, but to date has had no issues at all, apart from a programmer which was fitted to the boiler but this is no longer used as I use Nest to control it now.
Have to say was surprised engineer advised only lasts 15 years, i was hoping for 20 years or over tbh as i'm sure you can still buy the part but I guess it comes down to cost to buy and fit vs replacement. Will have to see how it goes.

Thanks, good to know they can still be repaired/serviced, 40 years sounds pretty good! This is my first combi boiler as parents always had a different type due to water tank etc so not had any experience with these but so far, 9 years in all good. Hence was surprised 15 year life but hopefully will go on longer, thanks
