SayBodyFit/Booking. Com

Had a booking through Booking. Com and along with a reminder of this upcoming event I received a you have won a travel kit just for answering a few questions. So I am ever vigilant and looked for the catch. Slowly I answered very non commutable answers to bland questions and reached the point where they check your answers and yes I won what seemed to imply was the whole package. Ever suspicious I slowly proceeded to claim page where asked to pay for postage so then carefully considered where to go from here. They wanted £2 but suspect that was just the gateway to getting my card details.
So I had a gift Visa card with a little over that amount it so used that.
It says it was accepted and gift would be dispatched immediately.
A few hours later up pops an email from SayBodyFit to say that my monthly subscription is due and to pay immediately or cancel - I proceeded to cancel this being the first I have ever heard of this company and they reply with theirSECOND email saying they do not recognise my cancellation email address and to give them all my details so that they can cancel my subscriptions.  I know they will not get more than the original £2 I have squandered and should have known better but just thought I would give anyone who comes across this of what might happen.
At my age I fear for the lows well known companies will sink to once they have your information. I am certainly going to seek a way to officially complain about Booking .com’s use of my information.

How do you know this came from booking.com?

Have used them many times no issue over a decade or so.
They don't do prizes or anything like this.

    Was it an ad?
Did you read the terms and conditions before paying?
Normally subscription things say in the terms and conditions that you are signing up to a subscription service.

Anything that randomly emails you saying you won something you didn't apply for and have to pay a fee, usually isn't genuine.

  • Have checked back and it certainly appears to be from them. I too have used them on previous occasions.  They had all my current booking information which I know does not make it genuine and there was absolutely no mention of subscriptions to anything just answer the questionaire with non specific answers and nothing personal. Only upon submission to check the answers did it say congratulations you have won and then started to ask for £2 for postage at which point my caution kicked in.
As no one has acknowledged this is from Booking . Com and I have heard no more I will assume it was just some lucky random scammer who did not get what they were after. As said previously just put this up in case it helps anyone else.

"congratulations you have won" is the first sign of a scam.........very old scam.
I remember that from years back with holiday shares.
Used to be on the phone. Now it's email.
As for it seeming to come from Booking.com that's easy for the scammers. They've used TripAdvisor, Booking.com, even picking up on bookings. They are harvesting information
The one that worried me was the AGA antivirus. It came up over a couple of sites with a replica of the real thing saying I had a deadly virus on my computer with a click here to remove. Perfect copy all but the click here.
I logged out and closed the computer. On starting up it had gone.

Just type Booking.com scams to see lots come up. Peoples information on booking is what draws them in.
TripAdvisor doesn't give away anything either.
