Insulation Grant Wales - Grantiau Cymru

My daughter had a cold caller at the door from Grantiau Cymru today.
They claim to be able to do loft and cavity wall insulation as well as any damp works in her house free of chage irrespective of her income as she suffers from asthma.
She has looked into insulation grants before but is just over the financial threshold.
I've searched Grantiau Cymru and have found their website but can not find out much else about them, reviews etc.
So the question is, is this too good to be true, are they genuine? Has anyone else heard of or used them?
Thank you

I've not heard of them but as a general comment cold callers promising the earth has red flags all over it.
Referencing asthma is a known tactic of spray foam insulation scams.

Like I said, I don't know anything about the people you have quoted, you need make your own decision on whether they sound credible.1 -
MysteryMe said: Referencing asthma is a known tactic of spray foam insulation scams.Yup, and I've called out one of their surveyors salesmen on that and a number of other bogus claims. If they are claiming to solve damp problems, I'd be wanting to exactly what they are proposing. If it is the hoary old chemical DPC injections & water proof render/plaster, you'll know it is a charlatan pricing up the job.
Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -
If it's FOC, then it must surely be a local gov or authority grant? Possibly an Energy Supplier - but they'd surely be declaring that very loudly if so.
I'd try calling your LA to begin with. Inc their Trading Standards Dept.
If it's genuinely free, then someone is paying them.1 -

We've taken your advice and my daughter is getting in touch with the council etc this morning to see what they say.
Thank you again1 -
They seem to be setting out to give a vague impression of being related to the Welsh government - using a Welsh-language name, the colour scheme on the website, etc. They definitely aren't, of course. The fact that there isn't a word of Welsh on their website apart from the name is strong evidence of that. Also, the text "Website by: I NEED LEADS LTD" hardly screams "official".
I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.
ETA by way of explanation: Many non-Welsh speakers in Wales will mostly encounter the language in communications from official bodies, who are required by law to use it. Playing off this association is quite clever, in a way, but not a reason to trust this outfit.1 -

Further to Casper's post, unless I am mistaken I think an individual rather than a company registered the domain and used something like Wix to operate the website.
Which for this type of business doesn't fill me with confidence!

I was contacted by Grantiau Cymru in September
Over the telephone and after a 10 minute chat about my property and my current situation Grantiau Cymru confirmed that I was eligible for the Eco 4 scheme. My property is off grid and my primary heating source was LPG bottles which was costing me a fortune to heat the home, but thankfully Grantiau Cymru have upgraded my central heating system to an air source heat pump along with 12 solar panels and insulation for my loft spaces and solid Stone walls at not cost to me whatsoever. 100% free. It’s been a month on since all of this has been installed, and my energy bills are almost have what they were. You can easily look up the scheme on Google by typing in Eco 4 there it will explain everything you need to know and why you might qualify.-1
