    I don't understand.

You say it was insured for £30.

So why have they told you they won't pay up?
They said it was never collected from the pick up point.

They lost it, plain and simple, and they won’t pay up.
The above two statements are different. I'm guessing you bought a service that would deliver to a particular shop from which the end recipient would collect it, rather than it being delivered to their front door. So did Yodel deliver to that shop and the recipient failed to collect, or did Yodel lose it on the way to the shop?

If the former, then what's their process - might they return to the sending point for you to collect?

As the OP said I dropped parcel off at collection point   I read that as he dropped it off a local depot or shop who take in parcels which Yodel collect for onward transmission to an address.

The Op is saying Yodel have  no record of collecting it.

That’s correct.  Shop doesn’t have it. I phoned them.
To be clear, I sold an item on eBay.  I took it to a shop (Jempsons) where Yodel have a collection point.  I was given a receipt, which I still have.   Yodel were to deliver this to the buyers address.  Somewhere along the line, I saw the item would be insured for £30, can’t remember where.  The eBay buyer never received it.  I feel I can trust him, as there was a lot of correspondence and patience his end about not receiving it.  I ended up giving him a full refund.
Yodel only refunded me for the postage.  It was a mini cosmetic fridge, which was worth £30, and it was new. I sold it for £11.  So not much of loss, but it’s the principal.  I’ve heard a lot of bad press about Yodel.  They shouldn’t be able to get away with this.  I was just wondering if there is any other recourse to make this account table?  Obviously, I do t want to pay legal fees! Thank you

How much was the postage? Most you would be entitled to would be the sale price of £11. How much time, energy and effort do you want to put into this?

The reason why I posted this, is that I wanted to know if there is any recourse for me to take this further and make yodel accountable.  They lost it, plain and simple, and they won’t pay up.
If Yodel didn't collect the parcel. Then they haven't lost it. When Yodel collected the parcel, it would have been scanned into their system.

Phoned the shop (Jempson’s in Battle, East Sussex) and they said they definitely don’t have it. 😕
So Jempson's gave you a receipt when you dropped the item off with them.

Don't Jempson's get a receipt from Yodel when Yodel collect it?  Have you asked Jempson's?

(I don't see the point in Jempsons giving a receipt to start a "chain of custody" if it isn't continued all the way down the line.  The OP has proof that he or she dropped the item off at Jempson's, bu they have no idea where it now is except they don't have it.  Jempson's need to find it...  )

is the receipt from the retailer , or is a receipt showing Yodel?

Where are parcels stored until collected? Our Evri collection point stored them in a supermarket trolley sitting at  the side, in front of the counter. Amybody could have helped themselves to a parcel when no one was watching.

Jempsons are presumably contracted as a Yodel agent so Yodel are responsible although they may never have seen the parcel. Presumably the next stage is a formal complaint.
