Virgin Media Stream Flex TV Box help

Hi,

Okay what if you just stick with the freeview channels? So the box is not free? and also I have to pay a £35 activation fee too? It is a tiny box so even after I pay the activation fee the tiny small box still belongs to virgin media & I have to give this small tv box back to them if I cancel stream/flex tv service because I am 'renting the box from them'?

How much is it to buy this box from them outright & take ownership of it?

I ask these questions because what is this £5 a month subscription charge for?

Otherwise I like to know what channels or what am I getting for £5 a month subscription? If its only Freeview channels then isn't it illegal for a company to charge for Freeview channels?

Finally there is no contract length for virgin stream/flex box service/subscription? Its a 1 month rolling contract?

Anyone has this stream flex box from virgin media?

Equipment is loaned, it only works with Virgin broadband, unlike Sky Stream.

    150 channels.

    £10 activation fee.

    £5/month, rolling 30 day contract.

Ability to add other packs also on 30 day contracts.

Is it monthly £5 for the 150 channels or is it for the monthly rent for their tiny tv box no bigger than a firestick?

On the stream box, how do I filter out the tv channels list or the EPG guide on how to show the free channels only because I fed up on scrolling through greyed out paid channels. Also how do I filter out the Data channels that is the channels that connect to its own server mostly found in the 200 channel numbers range because once scrolling through these data only channels, you cant scroll or exit out of these data channels easily.

Lastly how do I delete apps and rearrange apps on the home screen?

    Downloading apps to it, possible?

  • Unless they've changed things the Virgin Stream box is £35 upfront (could have sworn I paid £30) and no subscription needed. That gives you access to the free channels and a whole host of streaming apps with the only notable exception being NowTV (no surprise there). There are various subscription packages available all of which are rolling monthly, you manage them (adding and removing) yourself so no need to phone anyone.

You do need Virgin broadband to get one in the first place and if you leave BB then the box goes back. It is a nifty little box that works well and is very smooth.

I've no idea where you get this £5 month charge from but even if it was true (it isn't) then no, it wouldn't be illegal as no one is forcing you to get one.

    You can't buy it outright.

@JSmithy45AD suggest you have a look at the VM website, it HAS all changed for new customers.

So it has, £10 upfront and £5 per month. Not sure I'd pay that given a decent smart TV does mostly the same thing. You'd have to need some of the particular packages available.

You know which smart tvs that allow you to watch live freeview tv channels using your home wi-fi? Cant afford to spend £hundreds for a new tv with freely.

Probably any that have the main broadcasters apps on them but there's no guarantees.
