Jaguar Land Rover - HELP

However, it’s on back order from a manufacturer in France, and they have no estimated date for availability, yet he’s expected to pay the full amount upfront in the HOPE that they will be able to source the part. He has said he is concerned about parting with this money without any sort of confirmation they will be able to obtain the part (last time he had this on a different car it took 1.5 years for it to arrive).
My dad really needs the car to transport my disabled mum to medical appointments, and with the MOT due this month, this situation is causing a lot of stress, because it will not pass. Jaguar are aware of this situation, yet do not seem at all concerned or willing to help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I do not know how companies like this are allowed to get away with this.

Have they even looked at the car?
There's a electrical module in the front lights that can blow so you have to replace the whole unit, but some owners have found that the connectors have crusted up and they have got away with cleaning them.
You could try a Jaguar breakers.
There's JLRLover that trades on ebay that should be able to sort a working used one.1 -
For situations such as this its always worth asking on a dedicated manufacturers forum.
Jaguar Enthusiasts Club are excellent, have knowledgeable members and links to independents who may be able to help.

Agree it's not ideal but it's not a question of 'getting away with it' - worldwide events/shortage of components are affecting many industries worldwide with the UK pretty badly hit in terms of car parts - it's not just JLR.
As above, I'd be trying online breakers/specialists/ebay etc and avoid paying upfront - worst case is a 'restocking fee' if he doesn't go ahead with the dealer1 -
Rigelorion1 said:Advice please - My dad owns a Jaguar XJ Luxury V6 D Auto and is having an issue with his indicator not working. When he took it to the Jaguar dealership (his regular one I might add), they informed him that he can't just replace the indicator; he has to replace the entire front unit - costly but ok. He was quoted £1,200 plus VAT and fitting for this replacement.

A work colleague has a 19 plate evoke, she’s not had it long and shortly after she bought it the rear light failed, this was also a complete unit, she was waiting weeks for it to arrive, even Land Rover didn’t have one, it was eventually replaced and I think, if she’d have had to pay for it, it was the best part of 1k, so it seems it’s a common thing with jlr0

I'd ask around for a local car electrical specialist and have them look at it. It could be something relatively trivial but JLR will only want to replace the entire unit.
Or see if you can source a used unit from a scrapped car. I did this for an £800 Citroen part that was the same back order deal where you pay up front and get it eventually. Got one on eBay for £90 the next day.
