Santander demanding Employee ID and account numbers

I applied for a mortgage with Santander.
Sent them a wageslip but greyed out my Employee ID - that's none of their business. All they need to see is I'm employed and that the salary figure I stated is accurate.
Also sent them a savings account statement for proof of funds, showing that it coincided with the sale of my previous place. Again, I greyed out the account number of the savings account it's held in, and the account number of the accounts that had fed into it. Again they're refusing to accept this and demanding that I share that information.
What business is it of theirs to want to know my account numbers or employee ID?

All it looks like to a lender is that you are trying to hide stuff by redacting information, especially the account numbers, which prevents them doing AML checks.
Either give them what they want or apply elsewhere. However elsewher may have similar criteria.4 -
Yes it's a very serious post. I don't like freely giving out my account numbers.0

Honestly, what do you think a lender is going to do with that info? Raid your accounts?2 -
I have to agree, you probably have nothing to hide... Redaction makes it look like you do.1

I'm not hiding the source. I'm showing that it was paid in from another account in my name.
Whether that account is number 20-40-60 12345678 or 10-20-30 87654321 makes no difference. So I don't see why I should need to share sensitive data such as that.0 -

The bit I don't understand is why you are (seemingly) continuing with Santander for your mortgage when they clearly have policies that go against your criteria 🤔

Ultimately your choice but be prepared for your application being closed by them, you don't set the criteria.1 -

I've already got 2 hard searches on my record in the last 6 months because of sales that fell through.

Sort codes and account numbers can be checked against the electronic database to verify that they belong to you. It make AML checks much easier along with potential fraud detection. You are not giving them out freely. You are supplying them to a lender who needs to make the business decision to lend you a lot of money.
