I'm hoping somebody can help with this one.
We have a substation near where we live and the is a grassy sections that leads upto it, currently full of overground weeds. As it near our house then I'm thinking of trying to purchace part of it and dig it out for a car spot. Anybody done this before? How do i go about it? And is it possible?
The area is just walked on by people coming to look at the substation, which they will be able to do regardless of if my car is there or not.
Kind regards
J

Not going to happen. Protecting access to the substation is more important to them than the few quid they will get from selling a small bit of land.

Really, even if it wont actually block anything?1

That sucks, might ask anyway0

Even if they did sell it I expect that the local council would be wanting a Change of Use Planning Application.I am the Cat who walks alone0

When they change a sub station there is usally a large aera excavated which is likely the aera that you want to purchase.0 -
God knows and tbh i would care about them doing that, it will be a flattened bit of land that's it 🤣0

If you can purchase that piece of land, how would you prevent others using it to park their car?
Bollards or a fold up post perhaps.
Or is it only accessible from your property?A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".0 -
Do they need access to this piece of land to get heavy equipment in and out?Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

At some point they will need to replace the transformer, and likely that this strip of land is needed to get a suitable vehicle to do the swap over. That might be next week, or in 20 years time.
