Vacuum Suggestion

Options

Hi - I am moving to a new home—a 4-bedroom detached house with mostly carpeted floors—looking for recommendations for a heavy-duty vacuum cleaner. like something powerful for deep cleaning, ideally suited for larger spaces and heavy use. Appreciate any suggestions, thanks in advance.

Have a look at central vacuum systems.

Anything except a Dyson - much tooo heavy to lug about.  We've had both Shark and Vax and they did well with multiple cats shedding.

Go into a decent store and look at them and try them out.  Noise may be an issue for you (or not) as well as vacuum suction power.  Comparing different brands/types is the only way to find what you like / prefer.

Miele Cat & Dog work for us.  Hotels and such places use Numatic Henry often enough.

Cleaning carpets is a different thing to vacuuming dust up, though.  Usually involving water and/or steam plus chemicals.

The recommendation from the builder is not to do water / stream / chemical lifting for the first year.

I don't know if it's still available, or if geographically it would work for you but last week I picked up a Black and Decker wet and dry cleaner that looks like a Henry - for £31 at Trago Mills.

I figured I wouldn't be seeing that price anywhere else anytime soon. Though Black Friday is coming.
  • We have a sebo upright for carpets. They are great. Ours is 20 years old and still the best vacuum on carpet.

Everyone will recommend their favourite brand. Brie says anything except Dyson, I have used Dyson for years and they're great. I would say anything except Miele, but that's because my Miele is useless, I bought a Dyson to replace it.

Another vote for Dyson.  We are on our third now.  No1, a DC01, is still working and use it for outside on the car - just fancied another so went for a DC15 ball.  Then decided to get another for upstairs on a Black Friday deal so went for a Ball Animal 2.

If you want deep cleaning in the pile of your carpets then go for a Sebo X7,

I am a collector and Sebo is the one that does the best job out of my 30-40 (dare not count them) vacuum cleaners

Agreed! Also, easy to fix, if needed.
