I appreciate I cannot complain about another party's solicitor but I wonder what meets the threshold for a complaint to the SRA?
It's a long boring saga so I'll try to summarise. Basically I wish to sell my flat. My flat it turns out didn't have a lease plan ( a separate issue I will pursue with the negligent solicitor who didn't flag this up). The issue is, my neighbouring flat's lease plan shows it to be where my flat is so we have to enter into a deed of variation together.
I actually left the country over a year ago and am attempting to start a new life but with my meagre net worth tied up in this flat I am penniless. My deed of variation was drawn up and signed by all parties in 12 weeks which seemed like a lifetime. My neighbour's solicitor has taken 8 months just to get a draft plan. This part of the process was 4 days for me. It is deeply frustrating to have so little control over the situation. The owner of the neighbouring flat isn't too bothered, he isn't in any rush.
What I have since discovered is that this was the solicitor who acted for neighbouring flat's purchase so he is probably acting for free and will have to use firm funds to cover the costs which could contribute to his lack of activity. Should he have been transparent about where the funds were coming from or is he under no obligation? TIA

No obligation.2

agree no obligation re funds - what difference does it make where the funds are coming from?
the delay is probably because this isn't a priority for them1 -
Thanks for your responses. No it definitely isn't a priority. They have also told my solicitor they've sent a draft plan to property manager for approval. I emailed property manager and no plan has been sent only the original incorrect one. So there's deceit there.0

Presumably that should read "no plan has been received" as the property manager can't possibly know what was sent. Bear in mind also that sometimes people say "OH no, I've not had that" when what they really mean is "I haven't seen that" I appreciate your frustration, but I would be cautious about levelling difficult to prove accusations at the solicitor.

Well he forwarded me the email chain. Will have to see. I was building to a bigger accusation which I have proof for but sense this isn't the platform for it. Thanks all!0
