Sky TV Essentials package

I've been paying £10 pm for Sky's TV Essentials package, which is £5 for the package and £5 for the multi room aspect. All fine for a year but it's going up to £16 next month.
Is anyone else on this and has haggled for a better deal like any other package?
I'd be interested if anyone has a sky free solution. I think having 2 boxes (1 in the bedroom) where we can watch recorded programs keeps us locked to Sky
