In the meantime, please watch your step when near the vehicle, as it would be a shame if you stumbled when alongside it, and reached out to steady yourself.  Especially if you had a bunch of keys in your hand at the time.

It might be more interesting if they turn up and a car *is* parked there. Because they'd have the ability to tow or move it, surely?

    Nice result, Jemma.
Did you ask them about enforcement as well, should the matter continue - do the council do this, or the police?

Lowering yourself to criminal damage makes you as ignorant as the person blocking the drive.

varies I think by local authority - where we used to live they resurfaced the roads - all parking was suspended but of course some took no notice or where aware for weeks - the chaps doing the work had to dig up the road around the vehicle, they were saying that in a neighbouring authority they were allowed to get such vehicles moved but didn't seem to be the case in our patch. the owners were contacted and arranged removal in the end

The marking has no legal significance - it doesn't impact (positively or negatively) on the ability of the traffic authority (or police) to carry out enforcement action.

If the council makes a traffic order closing the road for roadworks to be carried out then they could arrange for any vehicles parked on the road to be removed (usually to a nearby non-closed road).

The difference between authorities usually relates to whether they are willing to pay for a full road closure and/or pay for a contractor to relocate vehicles.  There's no charge that can be levied on the owner/driver of a vehicle which is removed in these circumstances, so naturally some councils would consider it a waste of time/money.

🤣🤣 I'd be gutted if they won't tow it away, thing is, those who'll do the job are contractors, don't know how much authority they'll have. I could block the driveway temporarily, but worried they won't knock and leave. The inspector who visited the property didn't knock, he just marked the site and left.

    Nice result, Jemma.

Right? I thought they'd decline to be honest. I hardly have a success with these things.
Yes, they have the authority to ticket/tow cars, they sent me instructions to call someone; won't be a police matter. Too many criminals and drug dens here. The police station was right next to my previous rental, and every street there was infested with crimes.
