Appliance repair company sold me parts I don't need

Hi there,
I have a query about a bad experience I've had with a nationwide appliance repair company.
They told me that I needed two different parts, costing £250, to fix my fridge. They installed them and took away the existing parts that they replaced, and now it turns out there was nothing wrong with the original parts and that another part entirely is needed. I think I should be refunded for the new parts that I did not need; they say they could do so but I'd need to return them but then I'd be left without those parts because they took away the originals. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.

I'm personally a fan of fixed price repairs to remove the uncertainty and leave the issue on them if the first fix doesn't work1 -
Hi there,
To answer both posters:
Yes, I've spoken to the company. The CSRs keep telling me that they'll escalate my concerns with management but then never come back to me with a response.
Yes, they inspected the appliance and said the part was needed. The technician never asked me about the removed parts; he just took them away. I have subsequently been told by the CSR that the technicians should not take away removed parts.
