I'm trying to bring the temperature up from 17c to 19c at the end of the IOG period (1c in 1 hour) in order to avoid the peak rate, I then have the temperature set to 20c from 8am and I plug the car in around then to get the IOG rate again, the theory being you use more energy to increase the temperature, then when the IOG rate finishes it can just tick away maintaining it.

    IOG is 7p
    Peak is 26.84p
    I am on IOG too.

You plug your car in every day around 08.00 to get more time at 7p?

I know that this is possible, but not every day?

It is possible every day, they will always give you 8-11am slots if you ask for enough charge

It's possible but it also risks them deciding that you're abusing the system. If they do that they'll boot you off the tariff.

But I'm not doing anything wrong, I'm requesting a charge by 11am, they don't have to give it me.

    That's one opinion, yes.
The other opinion is that you're deliberately not plugged in overnight, when you could be.
I'm not going to double guess Octopus, but this is the sort of thing that I would expect their caution about abuse to be written around.

I have heard suggestions that this sort of behaviour gets one booted off IOG so interesting to hear they are ok with it
    I think....

Slightly off topic as its not monthly.. My system was installed / commissioned on 20 Jan 2024.  I have just had a look at the MMI and the numbers are better than I expected.

Since commissioning so a little over a year
Heating Input 2236 output 8795 COP of 3.9
DHW     Input 425   output 943   COP of 2.2
Total      Input 2662 output 9739 COP of 3.6

No idea how accurate the MMI is but its all the monitoring I have ATM
    3.995kWP SSW facing. Commissioned 7 July 2011. 24 degree pitch (£3.36 /W).
    17 Yingli 235 panels
    Sunnyboy 4000TL inverter
    Sunny Webox
Solar Immersion installed May 2013, after two Solar Immersion lasting just over the guarantee period replaced with Solic 200... no problems since.

13 Feb 2020 LUX AC 3600 and 3 X Pylon Tech 3.5 kW batteries added...

20 January 2024 Daikin ASHP installed

The fair usage policy states no more than 6 hours a day of 'managed' charging, this basically doesn't include the hours overnight if you aren't actively charging between 11:30pm and 5:30am

SO I have 2 cars and 2 chargers, one of which is IOG compatible - does this mean I could have 6 hours overnight and up to 6 hours in the day with whole house usage being 7p per kwh or whatever they charge for the off-peak rate?!
    I think....

As long as you don't charge for more than 6 hours total, yes.

Is your charger not IOG compatible?
