Airport Fees

It cost £5.00 in vehicle fees if you use a drop off at the airport. What I do not understand is that if you travel in a shuttle with five other couples and you are all expected to pay £5.00 per couple. Meaning the shuttle company has received an extra £20.00 for that vehicle to go to the airport. To me this practice is fraudulent. Any views on this topic.

Who is paying for the vehicle, the petrol, and the car maintenance in each case ?

It's misrepresenting the case if they say they are merely passing on a charge that they are being charged by other, as they are not being charged that amount. You can query it, but ultimately if they told you the price was £20 higher your choice is to pay the higher charge, or find another shuttle service that is cheaper.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

My view is that far too many people bandy around the word 'fraudulent' without any real concept of what it actually means - if you don't want to use a service charged at £5pp then don't, their underlying cost base is nothing to do with you!

Use another shuttle company that divides the £5 cost between the passengers, or get dropped off in the free drop off area that most airports provide.

not sure where the 'fraud' is. Are you suggesting they have a whip round onboard instead to get the £5 so if 12 passengers you each pay 41.66667p?
Maybe the coach company could increase the cost of all it's tickets by £2.50 and not charge a drop-off fee separately... the coach company would make the same and you would pay the same....would that be better?

    Also the driver's wages.
Nothing fraudulent involved that I can think of.

  • Its the same as free postage on ebay for a particular item. One company puts it on the price of the item and gives free postage another charges for postage but the total overall cost is similar..... Its up you which one you go for but it is not a scam.
