What a good feeling that must be!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Thank-you all for your kind comments about my mortgage milestone! It does feel good to have hit it, even if I didn't realize until almost a month later! The best bit is seeing the interest owed drop in the mortgage calculator I use - not paying outrageously for borrowing is a really good feeling.
Also had a browse at rentals in the area where we rented the converted Hop Kiln & I was utterly shocked that in 4 years, rents have doubled which means that it would equal my mortgage payment AND my current overpayment each month. I'm very glad we got out of the rental market when we did as this ultimately means that when/if I end up moving back across the pond, I will have a tidy sum to purchase there! - and if I end up staying here, then I can make a change to a small(er) property in a different town!
Another worrisome experience on the train. Some low-life decided to body-check me into the door of the carriage because I had refused to let someone else sardine me into the carriage. He took exception to me pointing out that it was hard enough to travel during rush hour with a disability without his sage but ungarnered input. I also asked him if he was ignorant of the meaning of a white stick. As a result of the physical contact, I may have shouted at him loudly & verbously enough that most of the carriage noticed and he made visible efforts to get away from the 'crazy lady'. I also happened to notice the camera directly above me which I am well aware caught he physical assult. Wrenched shoulder is now being medicated with anti-inflamatories & luckily I already have a physio appointment booked for this afternoon. Another complaint to the 'powers that be who run the train service as 4 of the 6 train platforms were out of service and I was unable to get staff to assist me at the station for reasons of accessibility, in fact the manager saw me and turned tail. I have one word to describe her, and the filters will catch me if I use it!
Now onto happier thoughts & my favorite seasonal topic...
THANKSGIVING!
I have found a lasagna which has all the flavours of the holiday - I'm not sure if I feel thrilled that it's available or horrified that something I would make with leftovers is being marketed as a meal!😅😅😅
I"m also being drawn in by the scents of the season - there is a pumpkin spice oil available for use in a tealight burner. I"m humming and hawing over it as we just purchased a cheap apple cinnamon candle from the Swedish store! My justification is that apple/cinnamon is OH's choice of scent but mine is defiantely pumpkin! I'm also telling myself it's only 10 more days untli it's acceptable to drink a pumpkin spice latte!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Oh my God @rtandon27 - I am fuming that you had to experience that! I sometimes wonder what the country is coming to 😱 I hope you're ok, not too shaken.4

So sorry @rtandon27 what a rotten experience 😡 I hope you're feeling less shaken now.
I confess I had a PECAN spiced latte this morning, and very nice it was too 🤭 Brightened up a blustery grey morning 😁3 -
Oh RT, that's awful 😡 Some people are just... (insert word of choice here). I hope you have a calm and relaxing evening planned and nothing further untoward happens.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

@edinburgher & @Cheery_Daff & @themadvix & @teapot2 - thank-you for your supportive words! It was truly a terrible experience getting from CharingX to WatE yesterday, and perhaps in hindsite I should/could have attempted the walk across the bridge that I've not done in a good long while!
But then again, if it wasn't for the compounded effects of a tubestrike & the storm that felled a tree, I'd not have had to experience the abuse! I"m not sure if I was exactly shaken - I was furious & annoyed that no one in the crowded carriage bothered to stand up for me! It felt more as if my inner banshee / beserker had been let loose, and if it hadn't been so crowded I may have clawed him in self defense! Then again I think my inner thesaurus scared him as he was not expecting me to stand up for myself at that volume or with a barrage of English with a Canadian accent!
I was in such a bad mood about the experience yesterday evening, that when I arrived home about an hour later, I got cross with OH about the state of the house and took myself out for an uncoordinated walk in the pitch black of our town for 40 minutes. Anyone who saw be probably thought I'd been drinking - lol. Came home shaking and realized that the adreniline had worn off and my shoulder which had been mildly aching was properly damaged! We ended up ordering burgers for dinner as it was almost 9pm!
This afternoon, my lovely physio worked on my arm & neck (for RSI) and then saw my blue & purple shoulder so had to work on that as well! Arm & elbow & shoulder are now taped up so that they heal & I"m to apply heat & cold to various bits of the appendage for the rest of the weekend!
This evening I raided my personal spending pot and treated us both to food from the new Jamaican food truck in town! (They even deliver & it turns out they actually live round the corner and have a allotment down the road.) It's been eons since I've had that type of food and am now happily sitting on the sofa in a carb-induced food coma from eating too much mac & cheese and an entire deep-fired festival dumpling after having already chowed down on goat curry and rice! Normal healthy eating will resume tomorrow & involve some fruit and veg. OH is also happy that I didn't insist on him eating protein & veg and easily scoffed down the carby delights.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! rt - that is just plain awful that you had to suffer an assault and that the passenger assist.... failed to. Did you have your physio take pictures of the bruising? Are you taking up the matter with BTP?
Your recent take-out or 'easy' meal options have all been justified. If that's necessary for you and DH to get by through the challenges that life is most definitely hurling at you at the mo, then so be it. You're all over your budgets, your priorities, and how you achieve those (and why). Don't be too hard on yourself, it's what you need to do at this moment, doesn't mean to say it will be for all time, or that you're starting on some 'slippery slope' to living beyond means.
Hope today is less achey.

@beanielou - I think now after living for 20 years in the UK, I am only just realizing that my OH was correct all those years ago when he said I was 'too Canadian' in my outlook to life 😂 I think his words were, the UK is going to give you a sharp wake-up call honey, not everyone in the world is 'nice'.
@Greying_Pilgrim - thanks for the prompt GP & yes you are correct, in hindsite I should have pursued it with the BTP on the spot but tbh it was all I could do to get to my main train (which I missed by-the-by) and get myself home! With limited energy, I do tend to tunnel vision myself into only doing the absolute necessary during a commute & not looking at the bigger picture. I hate to say it, but 'next time' I will have learned my lesson and will be more on top of my game!
Also thank-you GP for support with my over-spending 'guilt' and being that neighbour-over-the-fence who discusses the ins and outs of coping with life! It is hard not to be hard on myself iyswim! I only learned to be financially acute in adulthood, and so strictness is my default when it comes to loosening those purse strings. The image comes to mind of that old-fashioned doyen of the houshold, who had locks on all the precious commodities and a ring of keys at her waist.4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!!
