So in an effort to distract myself, let's have a mid-week recap and list!

Physio today means my arm is now taped - possible RSI reoccurrence!  OH had a doc appt today via our insurance health care - I had to cajole him into having it & result is 2-urgent care tests - SIGH - stubborn man!

    Mid-week list...

    routine tasks...
🔱 weekly digital planner - more of an ongoing thing, but I like to see the reminder!
✅ supplements - ran out of some so have enough until Tues! - will revisit on Weds - complete!

    non-routine tasks...
✅ Contacted the On-of-E for a 50gbp refund - that is more than I'd like to be sitting with them in credit
❗ clean up of spare laptop that needs to go back to the office - laptop is in the office, I've not cleaned it up yet!

✅ just spent 2 hours doing the follow-up as insurance company can't book the specialist appts when docs don't make their calendars available!

Decided to call On-of-E while I'm in a mood and ask for a 50gbp refund!  I don't want anymore than a month of payment sitting with them at any given time!

Frustrating algorithms on the website would only let me request 15 and then would lower my DD - um NO - DD needs to remain the same and refund needs to be issued.  I'm fully aware of my average monthly payment for the past 12 months and it is under my current monthly payment!

Had to sit on hold for 5 minutes but amazingly got a lovely chappy with an UK accent who was most accommodating and agreed when I said the money does more good in my account than theirs!  All done no fuss and no stupid AI bot to deal with.

Saturday update - it's been a weird ol' week!

We were woken up this morning by horrible shrieking and kuffufle of the flock of magpies that frequents our neighbourhood.  Turns out a young peregrine from the church roof had downed a fat pigeon for breakfast and they all wanted a share.  It was an amazing site watching the youngling defend his meal while being surrounded by a thugish group of interlopers.  He was alone but his sharp beak and claws kept them at bay.  Thankfully the mess he's left behind is not in my garden but in the only clear garden of the neighbourhood - them of the plastic grass.  They have a couple of potted plants, but effectively they have a cleared landing pad for anything that wants to land!  The plastic-grass couple just happen to be away this weekend so the mess of intestines, feathers and other assorted bird parts will stay put until they return.  They are precious about access to their backyard so have locks on their gates!  I have but one word - KARMA

    So on an emotional front...

OH has been seen virtually by a doc provided by our Health Insurance, which resulted in an urgent appt with our GP - amazing what happens with a letter in hand from another practitioner that basically says your practice is shirking it's duty of care by making him wait 4 weeks to be seen!  First test that is required has been done and the rest will be within 2 weeks.  Specialist consultant has been booked and lovely 'virtual' doctor is more than happy to kick-!!!!!! if our practice does not live up to it's mandated obligations!  Amazing thing is that it's not our lovely doctor but the rotweillers who run the office that are the roadblock to healthcare!  They have zero medical qualifications and are not qualified in any circumstances to triage, despite their so-called training!  Neither OH or I feel the need to divulge our personal medical information to them so they wield what little power they have and refuse an urgent appointment.  The practice manager now has a major flea in ear as I've said my peace and had it backed up in writing by another doctor!  Best bit is that our actual doctor agrees with us 100%, but has no power to make any changes as she is not a part owner of the practice but an employee!

I have ZERO confidance in the NHS as a functioning entity - both through my own experience over the past 3 years and the current situation with my OH  - think I will be investigating how much private insurance will cost in retirement as I simply do not trust them to take care of my health once I stop working and loose the fancy dancy med ins & also as I get older with a life-changing diagnosis!

As an aside - I've managed to tear a muscle in my right forearm this week - physio is being had - I'm taped up to help it heal!  NHS response was - 'take a painkiller' - private physio was 'let's get this in a state where it can heal'!  Bloody NHS - so NOT impressed with them on any front atm!  Again my taxable benifit has proved handy - almost makes the current horrible work situation worth putting up with!

I'll return shortly with a list of sorts - I've got this upcoming week (10 days) off but original plans for the week are a bit skewed due to OH being unwell.  Our dinner plans last night were scuppered as he was wiped out so we had pickety bits at home instead.

Back shortly with the usual overly ambitious list & a more positive take on the upcoming week!

I'm sorry the NHS is failing to live up to expectations. Might a life insurance policy with attached medical consultations be a possible? We get it through our policies (never used) but you could probably tap into the resource of GP consults for a lot less than "health"/medical insurance proper
