@KajiKita - every day is a school day - I'd never heard of the onion expression! - even my English-to-English in-house translator was stumped, so resorted to G00gle! for an explanation - haha - as to manager, I"m secretly hoping she never comes back, but as that would only lead to bad juju for me, I'll surpress the wish as much as possible!

Thank-you all for the payrise well wishes!

So today was a rest day for both of us, OH is still battling the dregs of his summer cold which has landed in his chest and caused coughing so he's taking it easy.  I'm utterly exhausted, but still tackling my weekend chores and some of OH's as well.  We both ended up having mid-day naps - I opted for my yoga mat on the floor which was surprisingly restful!

We had a rare McD's for breakfast & had it delivered.  My coffee was left out & the hashbrowns were undercooked - I was not impressed! - refund for the coffee has been issued.  We were contemplating takeaway for dinner but instead are having a budget friendly fakeaway of southern fried chicken & potato coins.  Breakfast tomorrow will be poached eggs, bacon & avacado on toasted rolls.  We have a roast for tomorrow which will be marinated later this evening and made into Puerto Rican Pernil Asado tomorrow.  Takeaway dinner can wait for another day!
    Weekend List

    looming tasks...
💡 do bus pass application - once blue badge is on it's way

Interesting rt - we've just had a letter from M&$ bank saying they've given up doing house insurance, and we must go elsewhere at renewal ☹️

    ed
mentioned the other day that his car insurance had gone down - if it's across the board, maybe there are bigger savings to be had?  But do you have any 'quirks' that some companies don't like - ie differing construction, older property, tree nearby........  I can't remember if your OH will hit the comparison sites, or whether it'd be another job for you.......

We are renewing with the same people, thanks to a massive reduction of 19p! I assumed it was to do with not claiming, or with our age or something, but I'm beginning to feel there's a pattern outside of that...

Call me a cynic, but if my current insurer is offering a discount, I assume it's because someone else will offer me a bigger discount ;)
I thought that when my car insurance renewal came in cheaper. I did check and it was the best deal out there, when you looked at the excess etc.

    Always worth checking though 😊

I wouldn't say I tend to do exhaustive searches but I'll always do the first "ranked" comparison site just to see what's out there. I'm a naughty boy in that I don't go through MSE Martin's recommended 30-step checks ;)
