Query re Sky/TNT Sports Subscriptions

I'm helping someone's who's got into a bit of mess with their subs to works out what they've got with who and what they're being charged. It turns out they've been paying BT (as part of their broadband package) £25 per month for TNT Sports via Sky and paying Sky directly £30 per month for TNT Sports as part of their Sky package.

I'm not too well versed in subscription TV packages but I'm fairly certain that amounts to paying twice for the same thing! The BT contract runs till June 26 and Sky till January 25.

I'm thinking that the best way forward is to get TNT Sports removed from the Sky package as soon as possible (it's more expensive and the contract is up sooner). Is there any point in asking them to remove it now or are they stuck with it till the end of the contract period?

Also, what's the process when Sky contracts come up for renewal? Will there be some communication as to what the options are at renewal of just a notification of what the out of contract prices are? I'll probably need to give some more help at that point.

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

TNT is the old BT Sport.

You can pay for it as part of your Sky Q subscription.

The situation is as described here:
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/tnt-sports - "If you take TNT Sports with Sky but don’t cancel your subscription with BT, you’ll be billed twice – once by BT, once by Sky."

So the solution here is find out which one is older (or out of contract) and cancel that one.

Thanks. I've managed to work out that it was added to the Sky package around July 23 having always been on the BT broadband package ("TNT Sports on Sky") going back to the BT Sport days. It was added in error due to misunderstanding a letter from BT (the BT Sport app was ceasing, interpreted as meaning the service was ceasing altogether). The BT service was contracted to September 24 at the time and has been renewed up to June 26 since.

As the account holder has been registered by Sky as a vulnerable customer and has added the service with them as the result of a misunderstanding I'll try Sky first. There seems to be the option to add another person to the account who can assist with the management of it so I'll do that first and then try speaking to them.

Probably not much hope of a refund but it would at least be good to stop any further double payments.
