Paying wedding vendors

Hi, I am looking to pay my wedding vendors with credit card however I’ve noticed a lot of them prefer bank transfer. Is there an alternative that people have used to still enable them to still use a credit card

Why are you wanting to use a credit card?

The most obvious thing is to choose a wedding vendor that accepts cards, if you really want one that doesn't then you aren't going to convince them to start accepting cards so would need to have a CC that enables you to do a money transfer so you'd withdraw the cash from the card to your current account and then do a bank transfer to the supplier.

If you are wanting to use a credit card for  S75 protection then it's worth noting that a money transfer doesn't count as a card purchase and so doesn't get protection.
  • As above, if it's purely the S75 protection you're after then you need to pay them directly with a credit card.
It may be that they're reluctant to take a card due to the fees they get charged by the card issuer.  If that's the case, they may be willing to accept a small partial payment by card with the balance by bank transfer (a common scenario when buying a car).  If you pay any amount on card you'll still get S75 cover (as long as the "item" is between £100 and £30,000).
S75 does give you a certain level of cover if, for instance, the supplier fails to deliver the goods/services, but it's not a magical silver bullet that will cover every eventuality.  That's why a dedicated, tailored insurance policy can be a good idea.
