Car Rental Excess

There is a wealth of excellent advice on here over a huge variety of subjects,
I am a Brit living in Canada, soon to return back home to Yorkshire.
Next April, my wife and I have booked 2 weeks in Scotland and will be renting a car for13 days. Some of the 'added' insurance costs, particularly for Excess Insurance Cover are astronomic with some companies; (over 400 quid for 13 days with one Car Hire Company).
I know this site is UK specific, but I would like a stand alone Excess Insurance Policy, but everything I have seen is specific to UK residents...
I would be grateful if anyone can recommend a Company that can provide stand alone Excess Reimbursement Cover for non-UK residents.

Certainly in the US is common CDW to be provided by credit cards and other financial products and so negates the need for a standalone policy, a quick google seems to suggest its not as common in Canada but is available with some cards (eg https://www.tangerine.ca/en/personal/spend/credit-cards/world-credit-card)
Alternatively there are companies like https://www.rentalcover.com/ who sell rental insurance in most jurisdictions including Canada
Neither are recommendations of the companies themselves.0 -
I just had a look on Money Maxim: https://www.moneymaxim.co.uk/app/engine/car-hire-excess-insurance
Set the country of residence to Canada and assumed I'd be renting a car in the UK for 2 weeks. The only insurer which came back was Worldwide Insure: https://www.worldwideinsure.com/car-hire-insurance.htm?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_sbDi7biv3SlR55jocCAGCdwvS9
I assumed you didn't need CDW or SLI and the quote was £83 for 2 weeks insurance. May be worth having a look.0
