Im a 'stasher' but trying not to be. Although I clearly need to work harder.
Cosmetics- Used to work for a company that let us buy bags of cosmetics which were being replaced by new colours. I used to joke that I had enough lipstick to last the rest of my life. Recently went through them realising I always stick to the same 4 or 5 shades so I would try them and dispose of what didnt suit me and would never be used. Turns out probably 3/4 of them had dried up and were unusable. Lesson learnt, enough is enough.
Skincare- Lots of jars, bottles, tubes and on a recent check a lot were past the expiry date.
Toiletries-Had an obsession with different bodywash and liquid soaps and ended up with a big basket full. I now use these to fill the liquid soap dispenser instead of buying that.
Bags- dont get me started! Its the colours more than anything 'Oh, I haven't got a blue/red/yellow/purple one like that so I have to have it. Only yesterday I went round the shops and used a new (Back of the wardrobe for 3 years new) blue handbag which had a strap that just fit over my shoulder. As the afternoon went on and I was in and out of shops I kept hitching it up as it was falling off my shoulder. Only to find when I got home and took my jacket off that the side of the bag under my arm had rotted away and I had a load of blue stuff stuck all over my jacket and the bag was now blue on one side and just a brown lining on the other.
Clothes- Ive had to revert to the 'one in-one out' way of stashing. However at the moment its more like 6 in-one out. Failing miserably.
Towels- they have to be plain, self coloured and yes, if I dont have one that colour its coming home with me. Something else I will never need to buy for the rest of my life.
It's not easy being me sometimes!2 -
I'm the same with the bags and clothes - honestly it's ridiculous but I'll be a changed woman!Saving for Christmas 2025 - £312/£7300

Tomorrow I'm going to start going through all the stuff in the bathroom.
I'll get a list (any excuse) then fill up a basket with the stuff I'm using right now and can start working my way through them.
I am not going to buy anything that I am currently hoarding but will only buy to replace what has been used up.

Hello
I'm basketcase and I'm a bookaholic.
Previously if when I run out of space on my (double-stacked) bookshelves, I've bought another bookshelf for another room. My DS does the same. Oh - and there's a very large suitcase full of books and a huge box in the bike shed. not sure whose books they are. I, for one, daren't look! Some may be DD's, which we're storing till she's decorated and furnished her flat.
I got rid of hundreds a few years ago. But I'm convinced they breed.
Anyhoo, it has to stop! They're one of my biggest clutter categories and I will be strong.
(In mitigation, I've read almost all of them at least once. Some multiple times. Apart from my To Be Read pile - and there's only about 20 in that, so no problem)A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

I know it's actually not that bad but still quite a lot considering I've read one book in the last 4 years.

Thank you - might not be much to some but honestly I'm such an impulse spender and have been for a long time its so hard to get out of the habit.
