Last year I purchased a 600 pack of Tetley for £6 but I often buy the Aldi red label teabags 160 for £1.85.

A good alternative if you like a strong cuppa and don't want to have to squeeze the teabag between two teaspoons to get every last drop out!

  • Thank you thank you server73 I was going to try Lidl red label next. Thank you for a pleasant reply 😉
  • well Matt Matt Matt uk. In that case it’s strange how Tesco, for one, had reported making the highest profits they’ve made. I will try and get you the exact amount for your refrence.
Tesco's net profit across all operations is 2.7%. You seem to not understand revenue, margin, net and gross.

Also the second largest private employer in the UK (330,000 staff) and a significant part of the nation's pensions.

Thank goodness they're doing ok, we all suffer the consequences otherwise...
  • Can I just add that price fluctuations can reflect marketing strategy as well as inflation? If a price is artificially inflated for long enough, when the price of that product is then reduced as a special offer it gives the purchaser the false impression of value for money.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.

The biggest issue with that is the artificial price inflation that Clubcard/Nectar/More/Asda rewards "discounts"  attempt to create. The reduce price offered to people who are part of the relevant scheme, the illusion that they are offering great value and offering genuine value.

But the offers that are now locked to Clubard holders are the same as the offers Tesco have always had. The inflation is due to inflation.
Things like meat 3 for £10, cooked ham 2 for £3, Ginster pasty at £1 (now £1.25), Quality Street tubs for £4 were regular offers either happening every few months or on continuously. All thats changed is the offers are for cardholders only.
A lot of prices have been like that at supermarkets for 30+ years, where it is high, then on offer and then high. So £2 then £1.25 then £2 again.
  • Tesco’s latest annual report showed that its CEO Ken Murphy was paid £9.9 million in the last financial year. This is an increase on his previous pay package of £4.4 million.

Not bad for such a small profit margin !!

About half was as a payout from shares, that he was able to receive for hitting certain targets.

His other pay was £4.7m in salary and bonuses according to the BBC.
