Am starting from feltham so clapham junction is doable but not really london bridge at that time of night. Wouldn't mind the three hours myself but it might be a bit much for the 3yo. Saying that it's going to be just as horrid to get everyone up at 3.30 to go by car. We will take drinks, sarnies, nintendos etc. should be fine :)

London Bridge may be no good anyway - not all the night trains stop there. You probably are confined to the last train to Clapham Junction and connecting there, as your original plan.

Alternatively book a private hire car. With five of you it won't be that much more than the rail fare and probably cheaper than parking

Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Combo Breaker Xmas Saver!
Can I make a different suggest-forget the train and use National.
The coaches run all night so you could get a minicab to Heathrow (or risk the squeeze for the short trip in exOH's car) the 2.35 coach gets in at 3.50 so would fit in nicely with your check in time and no messing about changing as it is direct airport to airport. You can also get Quidco on it so book the tickets seperately
Time and prices (they do a family discount card which may be handy for you) at www.nationalexpress.co.uk

Hadn't thought of that - though the Heathrow - Gatwick coach is pricey. It's worth looking at. The Feltham - Heathrow bus is 24 hours so you wouldn't HAVE to get a cab for that bit
  • book in advance and u might make a good saving :) Gatwicks actually surprisingly busy at night (had to sleep there once as flight was late and i missed the last train)

The train fare with family rail card is £25 - the coach is £77 plus bus fare to to the airport. Exoh called just called to say that he might be able to borrow his dad's big car. All I know is we are probably going to arrive just as frazzled as dsis and family who are flying in from canada an hour before us :)
