There have been occasions where the official line (award tickets are allowed in lounges) has not been dealt with correctly by lounge staff - due to not understanding the rules correctly. This was queried with QR head office on a few occasions and they have confirmed it’s allowed. And as stated they still count as revenue tickets - the ones not allowed are industry reductions - staff tickets essentially.2
