Apologies if this isn’t the right place to ask.
BT switched landline over to VOIP a couple of years ago. The free phones they provided stopped working so I need to replace them, but I am so confused as to which phones I need to buy and which extra cables I may or may not need!

I do have my old landline phones and I’ve read that these could be used. I only want to connect them to have the added security of an additional contact method in case of an emergency.
If anyone could assist using layman’s terms I’d be extremely grateful 😊

Chances are your existing phone will work plugged into the router phone port , even if it’s a cordless base station with phone , a regular corded phone will also work ( and pretty easy to confirm, just plug it into the router ) ….the router is also a DECT base station, so the free DV phones ( that don’t work anymore ) are essentially the same as a cordless phone system, a cordless base station ( built into the router ) and one or more portable handsets , that need to be returned to their ‘cradles’ to charge their internal batteries, and it’s probably the battery that has died in the DV phone , you could try replacing it or them with replacement rechargeable batteries, but obviously the correct ones , although to check if it is the only the battery that’s causing the issue, try putting regular batteries in just to try it out .1

Thank you so much! I’ve now determined that it’s just new batteries I need 🤦♀️
Having never purchased rechargeable batteries, could I ask if I need specific ones? I’m assuming I need 800mah (AAA) as that’s what it says on the old ones, but other than those specifics will any rechargeable batteries work or are there different types?Sorry for the (probably) silly questions 🥹Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass0 -

As stated , any brand of rechargeable battery of the correct size and minimum charging rate MAH ( milliamperes per hour ? ) will do , the important thing is not to put regular batteries into a charger, I’ve never bought any but they are probably available online pretty cheaply or even places like Argos or Screwfix0
