Court summons / house visit

Hello everyone.
Around 3am this morning my boyfriend had a message from his old housemate saying the police were at the address trying to give him a court summons. He then had a missed call around that time at 3am.
My boyfriend seems to think it’s from a parking ticket he received about 6 months ago but I said it’s very unlikely. The ticket was a private company and he’s had letters from debt recovery plus.
Also, they’ve not sent any letters to that address. They’ve been sending them to his parents house.
Anyone had anything similar? Very bizarre situation.
Alternatively does someone know why the police would try and deliver a court summons at 3am and it doesn’t explain why they didn’t come to our current address (we’ve been living here 4 months and all updated on DVLA etc)

I think it is safe to assume it is not connected to a parking violation.
Maybe they are looking for the wrong person? Some kind or mistaken identity/address? - or perhaps he is wanted in court for something else?
I once had the police knock on my door late on a Sunday night to "arrest" me which was very confusing - until they realized they needed number 40, not my number (4)!

They have better things to do. We weren’t sure if they were just pretending to be the police but again very unlikely1 -
They definitely asked for him.mr_stripey said:I think it is safe to assume it is not connected to a parking violation.

Doesn’t explain why they didn’t come to our address. His old housemate explained he doesn’t live there anymore but couldn’t remember our new address. Surely the police would run checks to find his new address.noitsnotme said:I’m pretty sure the police don’t deliver court summons. It was more likely an arrest warrant, particularly at that time of the morning when they like to try catching the ‘perp’ while they’re asleep.

Never mind, I deleted my post. I googled and it does appear the police can deliver court summons.jodiannee said:

They do yes . But why assuming it's relevant to parking1

I think the police can and do deliver court summons. Whether to routinely do so for parking violations however I am not sure aboutnoitsnotme said:
