Went out to dinner in Southampton last Sunday
and parked up. Tried paying twice at a machine and took ages to
authorise each time and both time
transaction was voided. Checked other machines and there were notes on
there from other car users that they were not working. We left our
phones at
home so I couldn't pay on them and only my 13 year old had hers. I
didn't have cash with me as it was a freebee for work I had done FOC. We
 went to
the restaurant which was about 10 minutes away and the owner said I
could park in his space. So I went back and moved the car, so all in all
 35
minutes maximum.
Got a letter through with a £100 fine, £60 if paid within 14 days. So I have the 2 declined tickets and a picture from the daughters phone of the dashboard time when we left. I haven't got a problem paying for the time I spent there or even the time I attempted to pay for (£3.90 for 3 hours). Is it likely to be dropped if I appeal?
Thanks all!

No it won't be dropped on first appeal.
 Is this Parking Eye?
Is this a golden ticket (you know, the thing in the NEWBIES thread)?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I doubt that any fines were issued
Its either a Parking Charge Notice, PCN , or it's a Penalty Notice, PN , the paperwork will state the correct words
It may not be cancelled on appeal, but it all depends on the paperwork and what the keeper states on their appeal
Did Parking Eye send it. ?0

Check if it mentions POFA or not, especially on the rear page, study the newbies sticky thread in announcements regarding compliance as it may be a golden ticket if there is no keeper liability ( it may not be relevant land )
Check previous threads on here regarding the same Parking company and location too1

Ok. It has got the POFA on the back.

So on the "one size fits all" template should I explain the attempts at paying for parking?TIA0
-
            No ...
...because there is no need at first appeal. Just be careful not to tick 'driver' obviously!
...and because you might blab who was driving if you add your story.Better to just add the fact that Southampton Town Quay falls within port byelaws and therefore the POFA Schedule 4 does not apply.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

But the KEEPER (named on the PCN) appeals.
 Not the driver
 Not the owner
Not a passenger who tried to pay.
You know this from the NEWBIES FAQS thread. I already advised the keeper what to add.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
