Retired - start paying back into a new pension - Tax refief?

If I opened a new pension having retired , funding the payments from other income or assets, would you still recieve 20% tax relief from HMRC??

Assuming no earnings which are relevant for pension contributions in the current tax year then yes, but this is limited to a gross contribution of £3,600 each tax year.

You pay £2,880 and the pension company (courtesy of HMRC) adds £720 to make up the gross contribution of £3,600.

This can continue each tax year until your 75th birthday.

    For the time being......
Even in 2001, when this was introduced, it was seen as a loophole and HMRC said it would be closed in time if it became widely abused.....  just adding to the silly season. ;)

I’ll hit 75 later this tax year😳 and plan was to use RS maturing a few days after the Autumn Statement to fund my final SIPP payment. Decided to close RS 29th and abuse the system one last time😇
