What about http://www.free-dialup.net/, you don't even have to sign up or give any details.

    Hello,Can i recommend fast4.net

I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole, do some research on the company before advising others to use them.

You mean if a reliable site recommends it such as www.moneysavingexpert.com  (see the dialup page). Maybe you should tell Martin that he should do some research as well. ;)

:rotfl: :rotfl: I stand by my comments.

Multi -User reports are usually very reliable, they don't all dream up the fact that they are getting carp service from a company.

thanks for the replies so far - i know for a fact that MIL (mother-in-law) won't change to Talk Talk - she refuses to change gas from British Gas and still gets elect from SWEB and refuses to consider it......
If I knew of an ISP which will definitely continue with dial up then i will change her laptop for her as she will still be using an 0845 number.

May I suggest Waitrose? Even MILs trust them and probably shop there, and excess profits to charity, plus free [0800] help desk. What more could she want

  • Hi,
My mother-in-law has a laptop which she uses very occasionally to look at her emails (probably once a week at most).
Last week she tried to connect to the internet but the dialup wouldnt work.
She went down to our local shop (who sold the laptop) and they advised her that the dial up that she had been using was no longer available and gave her another number to use (they set it up for her on the laptop) but at the same time stated that ALL dialup (0845) numbers would soon (in less than a year) be ending due to low numbers of people using them and that she would have to choose to go onto broadband or not use the internet at all.
Is this a con to get her to sign up to £15 month or is this really the case??
Does anyone konw of a dialup that she could use that will be available to those very light internet users that dont want/cant justify the cost of broadband?
Best wishes and a happy new year to all
    Mindovermatter

the end of dial was many years ago

And most if not all broadband providers still provide dial up to their broadband customers as backup in case the broadband service goes down.

  • Orange sent me a letter 3 months ago to tell me that they were stopping my dial up and moving me onto broadband........
Yesterday I got a letter telling me that due to 'service restrictions' they would carry on with my dial up.
Thing is I have Low User Rebate from BT so I dont want Broadband cos in the end I will end up paying loads more
Is your MIL on Orange ?????

(especially as it's one already recommended by this very site).

It is only recommended as one of the cheapest, not the best, we all know what you get from cheap ISP's.
