    As @EssexHebridean says, we need to understand your requirements, and I'm afraid those aren't coming across very clearly.

    Do you want locks (it's unusual to want these for internal doors) or latches? If latches and handles are failing or hard to use, maybe swap to pull/push handles with a pressure catch? If locks, then would thumb turn locks for inside (like bathrooms) that can be opened from the outside with a coin/screwdriver be the best option.

    Smart locks generally require a keypad, fob, card, or smartphone to open and can run into problems when batteries run out or if there are connectivity issues. Or just occasionally when updates result in the locks being disabled - this is not the only example https://www.digitaltrends.com/home/smart-lock-bricked-by-update/

    @greenbee

    Thanks FD30 Front Door has excellent thumb lock Inside, only key from outside.
    Is there link to Internal Thumb Locks -would those need Keys to Lock/Unlock.
    Not sure if Current and Past faults are more of metal Bar from Handle, the Bar is 'Sticking' Inside Internal Door.
    Those Smart versions not immediate purchase, to be considered over a few months.

    Look at bathroom locks, they are thumbturn on the inside.  Can be opened from outside with a coin or flat screwdriver.

    Cheap ordinary door handles are a false economy in my experience, good quality ones will last for ages.  Ours are now 36 years old and still like new.

    Let me check those bathroom thumb turns, thanks Tasker arriving this week.
    I don't have receipt though does 450-600 sound accurate for 5 Wooden Internal Doors/Locks de install old Install new.
    I like them cause some other wooden doors are wafer thin. mine at least have some solidity to them and 2 panel patterned.

    thanks

    Depends what you mean by “wooden” ?

    My OH does that sort of thing himself, so we have never had to pay a joiner.

    OP, if I'm right, you want to replace existing door handle mechanisms (not locks?) and have a quote of £450 - £600 to remove old handles and install new ones on 5 doors. Presumably this is supply and fit. Sounds a tad expensive but depends on the type being supplied. Presumably the variation is because the joiner (you call a tasker?) isn't sure if the new ones will just fit in the space left by the old ones or will need some messing around.

    Unless you actually need to lock internal doors, then these will be the least likely to go wrong. I've never had an internal door handle break, although they obviously will at some point for some people. You just need to decide if you want the turn handle ones (where you turn the handle so the latch comes out of the latch hole and the door can be opened) or the push type ones with some sort of ball latch (where the ball pushes in and out without having to turn the handle). The latter are the simplest.

    If you really do need an actual lockable door handle, then they will be more expensive. Bathroom thumb turn locks can be an alternative to a simple sliding bolt on the inside.

    @BigPhil
    Quoted costs were from current doors including handles etc and installation.
    Great news today excellent Tasker has fixed 2 Mortice pieces and matched up non matched pieces.
    125 Approx, Existing Doors and Handles can be used with Mortice bits where Spring has snapped on bedroom Handle.

    Thanks mser's Only Boiler Eco 7 Emersion   to 'Fix' mid week.

    Don't you just need something like this for internal doors? Other shapes and colours available. Should be only £10 to £15 each at the very most.  £500 to fit five is beyond farcical, someone s you coming for sure.

    Thanks Mser's

    As quoted recently total repair is 125 pounds, can't comment why 2 smaller sized Mortice pieces were used from order of 5 New Replacement Handles during 2024 Bathroom Emergancy when Every lock was replaced.
    Tasker Joiner 100% helpful, denying my preference of choosing 3rd set of Handles, as 2024 Handles are of excellent quality albeit miss sized Mortice bits.
    These Bits have been replaced and correct sizes.
    I'll never answer Why Springs are leaving some internal doors closed after Springs have 'Snapped'
    Maybe my varied physical strength is using too much Force sometimes and not enough other times.
    Exortionate Oct' continues almost 90% of monthly wage in total Costs.
    Each Job essential yet still 3rd Eco7 Water Control to be replaced.
