Probate not applied for after 10 months

While she is elderly, she has a lot of support. She now has what she wanted, my father was just a burden. That is why I had nothing to do with her.
Family politics are always difficult. All you can do is wait and see what happens and try not to antagonise her or her family.
My husbands father died last year, he was married for the 2nd time and his wife had 3 daughters and a son. None of them bothered with her at all and she was very upset by it. His wife died 8 months before him.
They both had wills and in them everything went to the spouse and on the death of the remaining spouse everything was to be split between the 7 children.
When the wife died her children did not even attend her funeral. 5 months after her funeral the husband made a new will cutting her children out. All quite legal if a bit mean. His attitude was that if her children had no time for her in life or death then they were getting nothing.
If your step mothers has inherited from your father then she could do the same to you.0 -
