Maybe that is because I take great care to examine my items before I list them, I take lots of photos and my descriptions are very detailed - none of this airy-fairly, meaningless AI.

I use AI for a few things and it can be quite useful. I've no idea what the abomination of AI that they use for Ebay descriptions. I've tried it a few times to see what it comes up with and it's always terrible. The most recent one it didn't even get the product right after I'd put in a good title and item specifics.
I've never had too many negatives over the years either. There was always the odd herbert back in the day who would leave a neg because the stamp wasn't straight on their parcel or something trivial. I think most buyers are aware now that feedback is quite important to sellers if they're bothering to leave it.
I rarely check feedback now. Back when I sold more on Ebay I probably checked it every hour.

I recently saw an eBay AI description for a vacuum charger talking about how the silver colour effortlessly enhanced a stylish lifestyle or some rubbish along those lines.  Truly made me wonder what kind of person thought that would be a good description and help it sell??

Having seen some of the other reviews of the ebay AI I tried it on a couple of my items - I was so impressed by the wonderful item I was reading about I nearly bought it- then I came back to earth, realised it was still just a normal widget and didn't enhance me at all, and used my own description.

    Flowery language has its place.

A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

Indeed!  (And florid language is one of the beauties of the English language.)  Just that place is not in eBay item descriptions.

As an Ebay buyer you can only have 100% feedback, sellers are not allowed to issue negative feedback. Let's hope your 100% rating continues when you start selling.
I've been buying on and off on Ebay for the last twenty years, but never realised sellers couldn't leave negative feedback for buyers ( which does seem a bit odd, as surely a seller should be aware/ warned about someone who doesn't pay quickly for an item and is in other ways a proverbial pain in the backside?)

I've never sold anything, mainly because I can't be bothered with the time and effort involved and possible aggravation for what could probably be a comparatively small amount of money.🥴
A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.
  • I did cancel an item recently. Sadly there was no category for “ I’m a total muppet and I didn’t actually buy the wrong monitor, I just needed a different wire 😊” so I had to put I’d ordered in error, which wasn’t really the case, but it was the closest option. Thankfully the seller was nice and allowed it.
I just panic whenever IT is involved 😱

    According to the eBay community

Sellers can't leave negative (or neutral) feedback for buyers because too many sellers were using the threat of negative retaliation to discourage less than positive feedback from buyers no matter how warranted it was.”
  • I seem to be getting a few bid retractions which I know is slightly different.  I’m sure it used to be harder to retract, aren’t you warned this is a binding bid or something?
Latest one I saw auction only at £1.99, a bid of £5 was retracted “entered wrong amount”.  Was trying to work out what number they meant to put in 😀
  • I have had more in the last 30 days than the previous 15yrs of using eBay.

2 for a Vintage collection only mirror, where both times after paying the buyer wanted to send a courier. One courier even showed up 3 days after I had cancelled as the buyer didn't bother to cancel the courier.

Even stranger I have had 4 on a phone case where each time after buying they've cancelled saying it won't fit the phone as they didn't read the description and/or title.

All of them had paid and asked to cancel afterwards.
