Can I use old Samsung J5 phone as a camera or radio without connecting to a network?

I have ordered a new phone to replace my Samsung J5 which has a camera, of course, and a VHF radio receiver.  Can I use it as a spare camera and a radio receiver when I transfer the SIM card to my new camera. The radio function is particularly useful for listening to live commentary at football grounds, since the online radio channels have a big delay.

  • No reason why not. The phone will still connect to WiFi (& Bluetooth & FM) without a SIM card.

    @flaneurs_lobster Thanks for that.

    I have now taken the SIM card out of my Samsung J5 phone, and can use the radio and camera, and even surf the internet using just my Wifi.  It feels like magic.  Using a smartphone with no costs.  Cannot text or phone anybody, of course.  I am glad it will not be totally redundant when I collect my new phone.
    Thanks once again.
