The margin between demand and capacity at 1630 today will fall to a level low enough to have triggered the first ECMN since November 2022.
NESO statement on Twitter at 1224 today: NESO is confident that electricity margins are sufficient for this evening. However, a capacity market notice (CMN) has been triggered by the automated system.

And they've recently shut the last coal powered station!1

That's what happens when greens have us trying to rely on unreliable inconsistent generation sources like wind without storage.
Interconnects currently net 3GW - importing 4 exporting 1 to Ireland
Currently wind generating just 3.1GW of UKs 37 GW demand.0 -

Nuclear has been significantly down, the past few days, but you don't mention that.
Great that we've got interconnectors. They work both ways!0 -

That must be my solar panels doing particularly well today and making up for the lack of wind!Reed1

The irony is that it is both sunny and windy in Mid Wales but we're a bit short of both solar and wind generation.0

It's not the green's fault we don't have anywhere near enough storage. That's market forces.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
