What would you suggest for these gorgeous windows?

Depending on where facing you might need to consider solar gain with those huge windows, no point having a view if the room is unbearably hot to sit in.0

It's a good idea to gather ideas but I think I'd wait until you move in before buying anything. Then you can get a feel for whether privacy or insulation or whatever are your priorities.1

Thanks again, yes we will wait until we move in to get a "feel" for the space and room as this property is very different to anything either of us has ever lived in before. It's South facing, as is our current home so solar gain will be a consideration too.0

Friends of ours have a property with full height windows overlooking their garden. There is a path along the back, and they didn't want curtains either but did want privacy. They purchased free standing folding screens and use those when required. They just fold them away in the corner when not required. There are many styles available.

I'm fairly sure we had clear one way film fitted to one of our windows at work, which mean we could see out but no-one could see in. There is a whole world of google out there which has left me confused, even some which you can switch on and off. ???Signature removed for peace of mind0

I forgot to mention that the building is Grade II listed externally and we cannot apply window film to the outside of the windows. Have had some great suggestions and leaning towards cafe plantation shutters on the lower panes to bottom up blinds in a sheer (ish) fabric.
We may well use folding screens at first as we get a feel for the space and place.
Thanks for all the advice and suggestions shared.

It's going to take some thinking about but soooo worth it for those beautiful windows. Why not move in and see how it feels?Does the upstairs have the same or any road in the house so you can see what they have and if it would suit you? There are bottom up plantation type shutters.I was looking at remote controlled blinds the other day.And I use expanding rods for nets. Very easy to take down or put up as and when I want light/privacy or whatever. The cold from winter is going to be a thing to consider. But me it would be huge and beautiful curtains for that job that pull right away from the windows in other times. That's going to be second mortgage situation though.I've always love shutters on windows. quick, easy to use either way. Sadly looks like I'll never have them.
