Compensation with Qatar Airways

Hi
I am hoping for some advice please.
I travelled with 2 friends recently, london heathrow, to Hanoi. We had a lay over in Doha for 50 mins between flights. Each of our tickets were booked direct with qatar airway.
We were late leaving LHR and so when we arrived at Doha were advised that we were not going to make the next connecting flight, even though it hadn't left. We were told we would be put on the next flight , which was due to leave roughly 6 hrs later. Immediately followed by being told that it was delayed by over 5 hrs. Meaning a delay of just under12 hrs. We were given a food voucher , enough to cover a meal but no drink and told to wait in the airport. This was the middle of the night and everything was shut. We were not given access to lounges as we were told they were full.
We eventually got to hanoi, well over 12 hrs late.
We have all complained and asked for compensation , my 2 friends have received 600 euros but I have been told I am not eligible due to the delay being not able to get a take off slot at LHR. Is this right or because they have given compensation already to the exact same journey, are they not admitting responsibility, so should I not be entitled aswell? Qatar have told me to claim on my insurance.

Obviously everyone on the same flight should receive the same compensation if any is due, but I don't understand why your friends would be paid euros when any claim would be under UK261, which awards compensation in sterling?0

sorry i should have said Qatar replied to them saying they would pay them euros 600 but they were paid £s into the uk bank accounts .0

Anyway, that was a bit of a digression, the fundamental point remains that for three passengers with identical (?) bookings on the same flight, it makes no sense for two to be compensated and the third not, so it's a bit late for them to cite ATC restrictions, although this would indeed be a reason not to pay. Worth pushing back to them about this though - they may argue that your friends shouldn't have been reimbursed of course, but if the money is already in their accounts then they can't recoup it....0 -
yes all 3 tickets were identical - although each person booked their own. I will continue to argue on with them and maybe escalate it further up the complaints team. Thanks for your help.
