Do Non Rusting/Peeling Bathroom Towel Rails Exist?

And if so, please can you recommend one. Or at least one that will last well.
I’m looking to replace our chrome one which has, of course, rusted. I’ve seen some ‘stainless steel’ ones that claim not to go that way but then other research suggests they all do. So please can I have your recommendations. We prefer the silver look but if ‘painted’ is better then happy to look into those too.
Thank you.

The problem is when buying (especially online) some adverts will state that it is stainless steel but in fact it's not. When you complain (I'm looking at you, Amazon), they don't care and the ad is free to sit up there for years to come deceiving people. If it is stainless steel, it will probably be found on high end bathroom/furniture sites and will cost in escess of £40 I'd think

Stainless steel is rust resistant not rust proof. The higher the proportion of chromium the higher the resistance.Anoneemoose said:And if so, please can you recommend one. Chromium itself is rust proof and hence why you get "chrome" accessories but as soon as there is any damage/wear the base metal underneath can rust and then lift the plating. Ideally "chrome" would be something thats been chromium plated but some will put a silver plastic over the top and call that chrome too.
Our current bathroom fitments are 20 years old and non show any signs of rust or pealing but there is no obvious branding on them... they are probably middle market level stuff. Did put some very expensive items in a bathroom well over 20 years ago and last time I saw them they looked the same as the day bought. Maybe a bit of you get what you pay for0 -
Our towel rails have never rusted either . Also no idea of make or cost at the time.0

We had our bathroom done 13 years ago and there is no rust on our heated towel rail. That would suggest that not all do rust. We did pay nearly £100 for ours so maybe cheapo ones are the problem?

Perhaps it's got something to do with wether the bathroom has condensation or moist air in it for long periods ?0

Painted ones are more efficient from an energy point of view.

I have no doubt it has something to do with it being cheap. We were a bit naive when we bought this bathroom and it hasn’t been the best quality. It’s also very wet because the extractor fan doesn’t work anymore, though we do have the windows open which work well and also a dehumidifier from time to time. This doesn’t look as bad as it does in real life.0 -
So is the first step to get the extractor fixed? I know when we had one fitted in our small bathroom in our previous home it made an enormous difference to moisture levels not only in the bathroom, but also throughout the flat. Similarly the fully extracting cooker hood in the kitchen was a game changer! It’s to be hoped that if the extractor was fixed, any future towel rail would last substantially longer without showing signs of wear?🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
