A DPF filter is exactly that, a filter, a ceramic core surrounded by a metal case. It has no moving parts or electronics, but its part of a system which is full of them, so whilst you may have a faulty DPF what is causing it?
A friend with a BMW had issue with his, A DPF sensor failed which caused the DPF system to operate incorrectly so it filled the DPF with ash much quicker than it should have. He needed to replace a number of sensors and the filter.
Its like blaming a failed engine on a faulty oil filter, when its actually bits of metal from the engine which have blocked the filter and starved the engine of oil.2 -
That’s been exactly my argument but as dealer is adamant it’s the part I’ve now proceeded to pay for repairs (under protest) and told them to get rid of the car. I’m no longer prepared to fight a losing battle. I have found a solicitor happy to take this up for me.After making my position pretty clear I’m done with Landrover Believe it or not their sales department called me to try and flog me another.0
